HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2018 NEW JERSEY STATE BAR ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING AND CONVENTION

May 21, 2018

From May 16 to May 18, the New Jersey State Bar Association (the “NJSBA”) held its Annual Meeting and Convention at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City. The NJSBA celebrated the installation of the 2018-2019 president, John E. Keefe, Jr., and a new slate of officers and trustees. The Annual Meeting and Convention were a great success and O’Toole Scrivo, LLC attorneys played an integral part.

Partner Anthony Capasso led the week off as a member of a panel discussing “Hot Tips for Hot Litigators.”  The panel discussed highlights from the year critical for any trial attorney and addressed the most recent case law affecting civil litigation practice.

Managing Partner Thomas Scrivo moderated a panel that included U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito and former New Jersey Attorney General Chris Porrino.  The panel was entitled “Navigating Internal Investigations and Fraud Prosecutions in Healthcare and Beyond.”  Tom then served as the Master of Ceremonies for the keynote event, the Installation of Officers and Trustees, and introduced the new NJSBA President, John E. Keefe, Jr.

Partner Alexandra Gallo continued in her role as a Trustee of the NJSBA and joined a panel of attorneys and judges well-versed in the Chancery Division entitled “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.”  This program focused on unfair competition, corporate divorces, and the procedural considerations associated with the separation and unwinding of businesses.

Managing Partner Kevin O’Toole ended the week of events with the great honor of receiving the President’s Award in recognition of his exemplary service to the Public, the Bench, and the Bar.  Kevin was honored for his over two decades in public service in New Jersey’s Legislature and as the current Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
