Judge Thomas Moore joined the Firm after fifteen years of distinguished service as a Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Judge Moore began his legal career at Carpenter Bennett & Morrissey, where he had the unique opportunity as a young lawyer to try dozens of jury trials in Superior Court. Judge Moore’s trial experience led to his designation as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney in 1989, a title he maintained for twenty years until he was appointed to the bench.

As a partner at Carpenter Bennett and later at an Am Law 200 firm, his legal practice included personal injury, products liability, construction, and commercial litigation. He particularly excelled in cases involving complex factual or technical issues, earning him recognition as a Super Lawyer and inclusion in the Best Lawyers of America list.

Judge Moore served as a Trustee of the Essex County Bar Association and an Officer and Chair of the Products Liability Committee for the American Bar Association. Throughout his career, he has participated in countless CLEs for the state, county, and federal bar associations. In 2006, Judge Moore was elected as a councilman in the Borough of Roseland.

In 2009, Judge Moore was nominated as a Judge in the Superior Court in Essex County. He served in all four divisions, including two years in the Family Division, two years in the Criminal Division, five years in the Chancery Division, General Equity, and the last six years as Presiding Judge of the Civil Division. In this role, Judge Moore supervised fourteen Civil Judges and handled all aspects of the operation of the Civil Division, including case assignment and oversight of the largest Civil and Landlord Tenant docket in New Jersey. Judge Moore was recognized as the top-rated Judge in Essex County in the last two New Jersey Law Journal surveys.
